A gang of robbers broke into Bahati Church of God within Lumakanda Township in Lugari sub county and made away with property worth thousands of shillings.

According to the church priest Rev. Dorina Micah the robbers invaded the church at night and managed to gain entry after breaking one of the windows.

She said nobody heard when the incident occurred and they knew about it in the morning after being informed by a good Samaritan.

Rev. Micah who was flanked by the church elder Mr. David Akhaoya said the robbers made away with 18 chairs, dozens of utensil, foodstuff among other property valued at thousands of shillings.

Church leaders within Lumakanda location have expressed their concern over rampant cases of church robberies in the area.

This was the sixth church to be broken into and property stolen in the month of June alone after other churches which include Musutsu PAG, Mugusa Friends, Lumakanda PAG, Mukuyu PAG and Musutsu Salvation Army churches.

The leaders appealed to the security officers to beef up security to help curb the incidents saying it was disappointing that these incidents happened few meters from Lumakanda police station. No arrests have been made so far
