With the Vihiga referral hospital still undergoing a major face-lift, the facility is set to have a 32 slice CT scan machine worth Kshs 41 million in the next two months that would help boost crucial medical services that have been missing at the facility.
This is after the County government signed a contractual agreement with Meditek Supplies Limited to have the machine supplied, commissioned and installed within eight weeks.

“We have signed the contract agreement with the supplier of the German manufactured machine that will ensure the machine is supplied, commissioned and installed in eight weeks whereby its a major boost for our patients,” said Mamadi, “It’s an important to have the machine since we’ve had challenges including the fact that five to ten patients have to be referred to other facilities each day.”
He said the health department has invested heavily and the machine is set to ease operations at the facility, “Our people have been suffering and as a department we have invested in this to ensure that crucial services are rendered to help our patients at large. It would help us reduce time while handling emergency services and help provide efficient service delivery closer to our people,” he added.
Meanwhile the machine supplier Meditek would bring on board experts to help with relevant technical skills on handling, usage of the equipment and training according to the agreement signed.
The company’s director Prittin Patel has reiterated the importance of the machine with regard to the facility and the region at large.
