Energy CS Charles Keter has affirmed that the national government is set to standardize electricity tariffs countrywide and come up with a new way of ascertaining electricity bills soon.
Speaking during a visit to Nandi for the official launch of the Boresha Umeme Programme in conjunction with the Last Mile Connectivity, CS Keter cited that the new tariffs which will be categorized into three modes; last mile, middle tariffs, industrial and commercial tariffs are currently being sorted by the Ministry.
CS Keter revealed that the customers will be able to access the three modes of tariffs and will be introduced officially in August this year. “The government is working around the clock to ensure that by 2022, all households nationwide are connected to electricity to improve lives,” he said.
He urged County leaders to work together to establish the achievement of the government’s Big Four Agenda.
