The Nandi veteran athletics team which comprises of men and women above 45 years has declared its readiness to participate in the World Masters Athletic Championships to be held later this year in Malaga, Spain.
Speaking to West Media, the team leader Truphena Chemutai, who is also the founder of the Nandi veteran team, cited their preparedness for the competition saying the team aspires to bring in more gold medals.
Chemutai said the team comprises of 47 members who are training hard, although their major challenge is the absence of a coach which forces them to train by themselves. He said many coaches are willing to assist but the lack of money is an impediment.
She said the team managed to represent the country in the Australia world masters championships in 2016 and performed well, adding that the same p[artcipats will be taking up the same challenge this year in Spain.
