The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has announced a reduction in fuel prices, in what is a relief for Kenyans even as we approach the peak of the holiday season. Super Petrol has decreased by Kshs 4.57 per litre, Diesel by Kshs 0.55 per litre, and Kerosene by Kshs 6.61 per litre.
ERC said the drop in the prices of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene is as a result of the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreasing by 8.46% from US$ 758.34 per ton in October 2018 to US$ 694.18 per ton in November 2018, Diesel decreasing by 2.58% from US$ 741.33 per ton to US$ 722.17 per ton and Kerosene decreasing by 11.12% from US$ 763.47 per ton to US$ 678.57 per ton.
In Nairobi, Kerosene will retail at Kshs 105.22, Super Petrol at Kshs 113.52 and Diesel at Kshs 112.28. The pump prices will be in force from 15th December to 14th January 2019, “The prices are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) at 8% in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2018,” read the ERC statement.
