A ten-year-old girl, Vivian Nekesa Wataka from Nangwe village in Kabuchai constituency, Bungoma County has been held at the Kenyatta National Hospital due to an unpaid medical bill, amounting to more than Kshs 750,000 after she underwent two head surgeries.
Speaking to the press in Webuye, her uncle Martin Sikuku Wataka said the girl was very sick and they couldn’t get the required medical care from hospitals in Bungoma and generally the Western region, and she was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital. The surgery went well but she can’t leave the hospital due to the bill which the family can’t manage to raise. Wataka added that the bill is still increasing the longer she stays there and therefore appealed to any well wisher, including Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, Woman representative Catherine Wambilianga and other leaders from the region to step in and help the family.
