Webuye East MP Alfred Sambu has shrugged off his critics and political opponents who’ve suggested he is too old to vie again after the end of his tenure. Sambu has affirmed he is still strong and he will defend his seat in the next general elections, saying that leadership isn’t measured by politicking but by development, which he has delivered during his terms in office. Speaking at Misimo primary school, where he officially opened three classrooms, he said some detractors have always suggested he is old yet his track record has left a mark on Webuye East residents, citing successful projects like electricity connection in the region and availing funds which have boosted businesses.
He urged his critics to engage him in development matters, adding that those mandated to tell him his time at the helm is over are the Webuye East electorate, not individuals who want personal gain. Sambu has had a notable political career, and has enjoyed the massive support of the Tachoni community. The Webuye East seat is progressively attracting lots of attention from other aspirants, who’ve targeted the 2022 elections, including Bungoma East KNUT Secretary Aggrey Namisi, Bungoma County deputy chief of staff Job Chelongo, and also some believe Ndivisi ward MCA Martin Pepela might be interested.
