With the war on corruption in full flow, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has expressed his displeasure with the period investigative bodies are taking to unravel cases, saying they are taking too long. Speaking after opening eight classes at Allan Bradley primary school, Didmus said, practically, it takes 14 days for the Supreme Court to hear and determine the Presidential election petition case, therefore it is impractical for the mandated institutions to take a long period of time just to unearth those involved in graft
He said loyal Kenyans who are ordinary tax payers are on the receiving end as they toil each passing day to pay their taxes yet some are just on stand by to loot from the public coffers.
He further pointed out that with the budget making process ongoing, some institutions that haven’t utilized their alloted money well will be forced to reduce their allocation. However the MP assured the residents that he will continue to fund more projects in the education sector saying his priority after assuming office was to do away with mud walled classrooms. He said as two years down the line in office he is proud to have constructed many classrooms across the schools in the constituency and soon children will be enjoying the facilities.
The Kimilili MP also said he is concentrating on serving the people of Kimilili, and that people shouldn’t interfere with his relationship with Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati by saying he will vie for the gubernatorial seat in 2022. “By the year 2027 I’ll be ready for the gubernatorial position, but for now with my energy, let me concentrate on delivering for the people of Kimilili, then after ten year of being a Governor, I will become a pastor,” he asserted.
