Luanda MP Chris Omulele has urged school principals not to send students home because of school fees and instead look for better ways of getting school fees from parents and sponsors. Omulele, while addressing parents and students in Luanda constituency when he issued constituency development fund (CDF) bursaries to over 5500 secondary, colleges and university students he said students should be allowed to stay in school without being sent them home for school fees.

He decried that the head teachers and principals chase the students from school because of school fees forcing most of the students waste time staying at home instead of being at school.

The legislator handed bursary cheques to school principals and asked them to value the good performances of their students by not sending them home to look for school fees. Omulele noted that chasing students to bring school fees impacts negatively on their performance in the national examination.

He asked principals to consult with parents, sponsors and CDF management on how students’ school fees can be settled instead of chasing them from school. “Let principals stop chasing students from school because of school fees in instead they should consult with parents, sponsors and CDF management on how fees can be settled,” urged Omulele.

The area MP noted that many students who come from poor families have been receiving support from CDF bursary and he was happy that many are performing well.

He said Luanda CDF have special classes in secondary schools in Emuhaya and Luanda where the students receive full sponsorship from CDF. He also asked parents to invest in their children by sending them to school, adding that education is the only best gift the parents can give to their children.
