The Nandi County Director of Education Mr. Willy Machocho has confirmed the attained success of the 100% secondary school transition program in Nandi County. The transition rate in the County currently stands at 96.6%.
Machocho said the Ministry of Education still hopes that the remaining 3.4% will join secondary schools. “Our principals are great people and will keep the school doors open so that the remaining 3.4% can be catered for,” he affirmed.
Concerning the issue of the new curriculum, the County Director of Education said the progress is good, and teachers are picking it up well.
In Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classes that is PP1 and PP2 there are enough textbooks, after the intervention of area Governor Stephen Sang who has done very well in ensuring there is enough reading materials.
On the other hand, Nandi is doing quite well in the Co-curricular activities, and he lauded the efforts of Education PS Dr Belio Kipsang who has ensured funds are availed and they no longer need to ask parents. Machocho said they are now able to finance the activities unlike in previous times when they used to depend on contributions from parents. He was speaking during a Thanksgiving day at Chesumei sub county in Nandi.
