The Building Bridges Initiative team held sittings in Nandi and dismissed claims that the team is going around seeking views in order to prepare for the referendum.
The BBI team, led by Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji and Busia Senator Amos Wako denied the assertions relating their work to the referendum and noted that they are in the process of conducting foras countrywide to collect public views on important issues touching on peace and national cohesion, and the issues therein shouldn’t be politicised. The team was put in action after the infamous President Uhuru Kenyatta and former premier Raila Odinga handshake.
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang led the local community in giving views to the BBI team, and he affirmed that the fight against corruption should not be politicised.
The task force is expected to submit its findings and proposals to the President on how to tackle negative ethnicity, corruption, divisive politics and other challenges facing the nation.
