Christians celebrated Good Friday globally and countywide, as the season remembering the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ picks up steam. Catholic faithful took part in the way of the cross in various towns and other denominations opted for normal Church services, with sermons focusing on God’s accomplished work.
Speaking after leading mass at the All Saints Cathedral, the Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit urged government agencies charged with fighting graft to promptly undertake their duties. He also faulted the fact that some leaders are using churches as their political grounds, including fundraisers. “Whereas we acknowledge the role the Harambee spirit has played in the development of our society, the Anglican Church of Kenya is evaluating holding of fundraisers in their sanctuaries by politicians and the people we normally term as guests of honours.” He said Christians including politicians are expected to worship God with their resources quietly, as taught by the Bible.
