Leaders have been urged to focus on developing arts among students, even as the Kenya national drama festival enters day four in Kibabii, Bungoma County. Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala said leaders in posts like his should be able to focus on nurturing talent, “In this country, we have a lot of talent from football, athletics, drama and it’s important for leaders to come together and see how this talent is nurtured.

The festival started on April 3rd and it will run to 13th and more than 10,000 participants are being hosted. The venues are Kibabii Teachers Diploma College, St. Mary’s Kibabii Boys, Kibabii University and Cardinal Otunga Girls High School. Schools from Western Kenya have previously performed well in the competitions and this year much is expedited form them, with the results trickling in as the fest continues.

Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology represented Bungoma County in the technical institutes so far and the school’s drama matron expressed optimism saying the institution has been nurturing talent. So far, Kakamega School and Chavakali Boys High School have already lit the stage, given that they are household names in the festivals. Much is expected from the region’s schools and the wait is on to see how many trophies will be scooped by the end of the fest.
