The AU High Representative for Infrastructure Development Raila Odinga has dismissed rumours being peddled in the country that he along with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Interior CS Fred Matiang’i are involved in the fake gold scam.
The opposition leader was addressing mourners at Shibuye village in Shinyalu Sub County, Kakamega County. Raila cautioned those pointing fingers at CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i on the fake gold scam to let the law take its course. “The truth will soon be out, and Kenyans should calm down and wait because the investigations are underway.”
The ODM leader revealed that he is the whistleblower of the whole scandal and that the decision to do that has caused a disturbance among the culprits, who are attacking anyone they see as a threat.
The opposition leader also condemned the recent killings of people in Matungu Sub County. He called on the security department to act with speed to ensure the situation is contained and perpetrators brought to book.
Kakamega Deputy Governor Philip Museve Kutima urged the former Prime Minister to go beyond pointing out vices in the country saying in the spirit of the handshake, he should initiate the process of prosecuting masters of impunity and ensure recovery of the illegally acquired property.
