The County government of Bungoma has been condemned for not fulfilling its agenda, specifically the youth internship agenda. Addressing mourners in Milo, Sitikho ward in Webuye West constituency, Peter Sitati who vied for Webuye West parliamentary seat in 2017, revealed that agenda number 9 was to give six months internship to youths who are in colleges, something he said has never been done since Wangamati took the leadership of the county.
“Wangamati promised youths in his ninth agenda that he will be giving internships to youths in colleges and as you can all see there is no single youth that has been given such a chance even after he has taken two years in office. It is my plea to our Governor to wake up and serve Bungoma people as you promised,” said Sitati.
Sitati urged Governor Wangamati to have a meeting with people who are opposing the construction of the Musikoma-Kanduyi dual carriageway so that they may reach a consensus. He also pointed out that the project isn’t the County government’s initiative, “Bungoma people, you should know that the dual carriageway isn’t a County government project, when the County government comes to you and starts claiming that it’s there project know it’s not true since this is a national government project that is financed by the President,” he said.
Sitikho ward MCA Grace Sundukwa urged the national government to consider unemployed youths in the oncoming census exercise in August and urged the administration concerned to spread jobs in the ward and stop considering one family only.
“We had the Huduma namba some months ago and I realized that one family dominated in the exercise therefore this time round let Sitikho administration spread the Census jobs to all youths who need jobs, let it not just benefit one family,” said Ms. Sundukwa.
