ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans to stop criticizing the Punguza Mizigo and Building Bridges initiatives and wait to be informed firsthand concerning what the two fronts entail, before making any efforts to offer their support or rejection, and Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa has supported the notion. “Some have been criticizing the BBI and Punguza Mizigo initiatives without knowing what is in store for them,” said CS Wamalwa, “I urge the public to be weary and avoid being swept away by torrents of politics but instead critique the two before making any decisions.”

On the other hand, Bungoma Senator and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula has fully supported a constitutional change, with the winds of a referendum blowing steadily countrywide. However, he also urged leaders to closely scrutinize the Punguza Mizigo and BBI, “I call upon our leaders, before making any informed decisions, to peruse the two before they take any action.”

The leaders were speaking at the 27th anniversary of the late Masinde Muliro in Cherangany, Trans Nzoia County. The leaders pledged to work together and unite the Luhya community.

Earlier on, the late Muliro’s son Mwambu Muliro criticized
leaders from the region for using his father’s name to ascend to
power and later on divert their commitments elsewhere after achieving their goals.

Mwambu, however praised his late father, for doing his best to make sure the region and his family get the best, adding that he helped the needy in the society by taking them to the best schools despite facing a hard time from the KANU regime.

Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba and Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati praised the late Muliro for being on the forefront in the push for Majimbo government. They also faulted the current crop of MPs for fighting devolution by denying Counties more funds.
