With affordable housing counted in the national government’s Big Four Agenda, Musikoma ward MCA George Makari has urged the government to consider helping the needy at the grassroot level to access better housing facilities.
Speaking in Samoya Village after helping put up a house for a widow, Makari said the government needs to conduct a thorough research regarding the project, noting that those in need of better housing are not only in urban centers.
He said many people live below the poverty line and cannot afford better houses saying they need to be helped by the government through the initiative. The MCA said together with Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, they bought material for construction of the aforementioned widow’s house saying they will also be doing the same for other needy people in the constituency.
Irene Wafula, the widow, expressed her joy, saying since her husband died she has been undergoing a rough time taking care of her children given that she is jobless. The MCA also challenged the leadership of Bungoma County to prioritize projects that will be of great impact to the people. He said setting aside millions for projects that benefit a few is a disservice.
