Shock and grief has engulfed the residents of Kipsol village in Kombe location, Nandi County after a son murdered his 50-year-old father due to family wrangles. Speaking to West FM at the scene of the murder, the Kombe location assistant chief Mr Julius Kemboi confirmed the incident saying the suspect, Julius Kimeli, aged 30, surrendered to Kaimosi police station admitting the murder.
Kemboi said the suspect was angered by his father’s decision to cut down trees he had planted prompting him to commit the heinous crime. He said the body of the deceased was found lying on the road, between Chomisia-Kipsol, beside his motorbike and had bruises on the head and neck. The assistant chief further revealed that the family of the deceased has been experiencing family wrangles for a long time without any solutions being found. He said the late father’s wealth was part of the reason the disagreements were witnessed.
The deceased was a reknown large scale farmer and has left behind a widow and many children. The body has been taken to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital mortuary. The culprit is being held at the Kapsabet police station, awaiting to be arraigned in court.
