Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has urged the government and leaders to shift focus from the BBI implementation talk to issues development. Speaking in Uasin Gishu where he had accompanied Deputy President William Ruto and other leaders for a funeral, Khalwale said the back and forth concerning the report shouldn’t be witnessed. “we have remained quiet because we haven’t been told if the report released at Bomas was the real deal or it is an interim report,” he noted, “And if it was the real report, you can’t take the report from experts and take it back to experts so that they can take it back to them, going round and round as if there is no other work in Kenya.”

He said the government should work to serve Kenyans, and this means availing better living conditions and an affordable lifestyle for the nation, “Work means milk is sold at a good price, maize is sold at a good price, sugarcane is sold at a good price…”

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi added that the BBI report should factor in the condition of farmers and that there is no opposition to it currently. “We aren’t against anything in the report, but they should add a statute to set a law on maize, coffee, tea and milk pricing,” he said.
