Three people died on the spot following a grisly road accident that involved a tipper truck and a cane tractor at Stand Mawe area, few meters from Chekalini stage along Eldoret–Webuye highway in Lugari Sub County.
Confirming the incident, Lugari Sub County Police Commander Patrick Maundu said the accident occurred when the truck driver who was over speeding towards Webuye lost control and rammed into the cane tractor from behind.
He said the tipper truck was heavily loaded with pebble and efforts by the driver to apply emergency brakes failed, ramming into the tractor that was transporting canes.
The truck driver and other two occupants who were with him died on the spot while the tractor driver escaped without injuries.
The police boss has urged motorists to be cautious during this rainy season as most sections of tarred roads in the region were slippery. He said it was drizzling when the accident occurred.
