Grief has gripped Forest village in Soy sub location, Likuyani Sub County after a 22 year old man killed his three year old son by throwing him in a church well before also taking his own life by jumping in the same well on the New Year’s eve.
According to Mr. John Barasa a contractor who is building St. Luke’s Everglade Anglican church of Kenya (ACK) the deceased Isaac Imbiakha passed near the site on Tuesday evening heading towards Everglade primary school and later returned back home carrying his son. “We never knew that he was looking for a place to commit suicide,” said Mr. Barasa alias DJ Kasusu.
He said his team was shocked when they arrived to work on Wednesday morning and found the well open with clothes dumped near it. “We became suspicious after we found the clothes he and his son were wearing dumped near the well. Also there was his wallet and other documents near it,” said Barasa.
He said he later went to the deceased’s home to inquire on his whereabouts where he was informed that he left home on Tuesday morning with his son and they had not returned.
He said together with family members they went back to the scene and took one of the rods dipped it in well where they felt it touching some objects. “We made efforts to remove the objects only to be shocked to find the two bodies,” said Barasa.
According to the family members the deceased has been in regular feud with his wife prompting her to go back to her parents. However she came back on Tuesday morning demanding to be given her son but the father left with him, threatening to die together with him.
Confirming the incident, Soy sub location senior assistant chief Cornelius Luseno Lusava condemned the incident appealing to couples to look for amicable way of solving family conflicts instead of taking their lives in such a cruel manner.
The two bodies were removed from the scene by police officers from Matunda station as the family pleaded to be allowed to bury them claiming to have no complaints over their death.
