A 7-months-old baby died on Monday evening after being choked by a lollipop at Chekalini central village, Koromaiti sub location in Lugari sub county. The deceased’s mother Pauline Wanyonyi gave her son Lawrence Nyongesa the candy and went to take a bath.
However, when she returned from the bathroom she was shocked to find the baby on the floor fighting for his life after being choked by the lollipop.
She rushed him to Chekalini health center where medics at the facility could do little to remove the sweet from the little boy’s throat and they referred her to Lumakanda sub county hospital where the baby was pronounced dead on arrival. The incident has been confirmed by Koromaiti assistant chief Wilkister Muyoka.
