Volume Three of the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census has been released by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), with the Kikuyu community placed as the most populous in Kenya with a population of 8,148,668 people, followed by the Luhya community with a population of 6,823,842. Kalenjins are third with a population of 6,358,113, the Luo community is the fourth most populous with a population of 5,066,966, and the Kamba community with a population of 4,663,910.
The Kenyan Somali are 2,780,502, the Kisii population stands at 2,703,235, Mijikenda population is 2,488,691, the Meru population stands at 1,975,869 while the Maasais are 1,189,522.
In the 2019 census, Kenya’s population was placed at 47,564,296. The number of females was higher than men, at 24,014,716, while men are 23,548,056. The most populous County is Nairobi, with 4.3 million people, followed by Kiambu with 2.4 million people, Nakuru with 2.1 million people, Kakamega with 1.8 million people and Bungoma with 1.6 million people.
