Covid-19 victim Maurice Khisa Namiinda has been laid to rest at his home in Naisambu sub location, Kiminini sub county in Trans Nzoia County in a function that was attended by a few family members. The 66-year-old who was an engineer by profession was the first Coronavirus casualty in Kenya. The whole ceremony was overseen by a team of health workers from Trans Nzoia County, with everyone who was present undergoing strict hygiene guidelines. The Catholic church priests also took less than 10 minutes to conduct the religious order, while family members were not allowed to converse for long with the whole funeral taking less than an hour.
A team of health workers were left behind and they sanitized all who were present. Relatives present praised the late Maurice, noting that he always helped them in times of need. They said he paid school fees for their children and also helped them in their farming ventures and providing family advice.

They thanked the government for providing much needed support during their quarantine period, including giving them important health tips during the whole period. Some of the residents were not allowed into the compound,with police officers deployed to make sure no one forced his way in. The late Maurice is survived by seven children and a widow.
