Education CS George Magoha has insisted the government has not thought of postponing primary and secondary schools’ national exams. Speaking to the press during a Covid-19 update, CS Magoha said online learning is ongoing and that concerning the solutions and proposals to help the education sector that are set to be presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta, none are “doomsday” solutions.
He has urged Kenyans to listen to him only when it comes to matters education, “Before I speak I consult widely the stakeholders that are relevant in the education sector,” he said.
He further urged parents not to allow children to congregate and learn together, “Stay home with your children, love them and also teach them if you can.” He noted that due to the availability of phones in homes countrywide, parents should allow kids to access information on the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) channel and also facilitate their online learning, adding that other media channels like TVs play an important role.
