Days after the removal of Deputy Senate Speaker Kithure Kindiki, COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli has said he will push for the removal of the National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale. The Jubilee purge has so far caught up with several leaders, including Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika. Atwoli said sanity must be restored.
He said Aden Duale hasn’t been mindful of workers during his tenure as the majority leader, adding that he had warned Kenyans years ago that he will be an impediment to economic development. “He has brought to parliament bills and a lot of amendments and laws concerning workers in this country with very ulterior motives, trying to outlaw strikes which are in our national constitution… Trying to outlaw the NSSF Act to leave it open for anybody to do whatever they want with workers’ money,” said Atwoli.
The COTU boss said Duale hates the workers in Kenya and shouldn’t be left in The Majority leader position. He noted that he will campaign to progressive members of parliament to ensure that Duale’s position is dealt with, “This will be good for our parliament because we want sanity.”
