Police in Kabiyet police station in Nandi North are detaining a middle aged man alleged to have killed 2 people and injured 3 others who tried to diffuse a family dispute in Chepkoiyo sub-location in Nandi county.
Nandi North police boss Mr Anthony Shimoli who confirmed the incident said the suspect Mr Elkanah Limo from Kapkeringon village in Kamoiywo location has been living separated from his wife for quite some time due to family issues, and he went to his wife’s shop with intentions of killing her.
Shimoli cited that an argument between the suspect and his wife, a shopkeeper at Kapkeringon shopping center, arose, attracting members of the public who came to her rescue but the guy stabbed them randomly, critically injuring 5 of them.
Among the 5, was the shop’s landlord and another resident succumbed to injuries after they were rushed to Mosoriot hospital. 2 other residents were treated and discharged while 1 other victim was transferred to Kapsabet County referral hospital for further treatment. “Police officers from Kabiyet police station rushed to the scene and found 5 people had been stabbed by the said suspect,” he said.
The suspect is currently held at Kabiyet police station and police have launched investigations into the incident.
