The Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) has given out items to West Pokot County aimed at enhancing preventive measures in tackling the Covid-19 courtesy of the Italian government. The donations include 7 hand washing booths, 60,000 face masks, 12 litres of sanitizers and 700 water tanks of a capacity of 200 litres each.
KVDA Managing Director Sammy Naporos who handed over the donations to the area Governor John Lonyangapuo in Kapenguria said the donation is meant to supplement the national and County governments efforts in containing the spread of the Coronavirus.
He said the authority has used Kshs 10 million to support Covid-19 interventions especially prevention. Naporos said that the donations will benefit small and medium enterprises in towns, markets, “West Pokot borders Uganda and there is a lot of cross border trade and the area is risky,” he said.
West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo who lauded KVDA for the support said the County still needs Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).
The Governor asked KVDA to give more support to County residents who are faced with many challenges. “I recognize and appreciate your efforts. By the grace of God the Coronavirus pandemic will end,” he said.
