West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has signed the financial year 2020/2021 County budget estimates after the County assembly unanimously accepted the budget. The signing of the bill at the West Pokot County headquarters was witnessed by the County Assembly clerk Mr David Karukutiang. This comes amidst push and pulls in the assembly following leadership wrangles between KANU MCAs.
Speaking in his office, Governor Lonyangapuo asked MCAs to stop wrangles and concentrate on development activities. “We need to focus on development.
He said the budget will positively impact West Pokot residents, “This is a people’s budget. This is a budget that is meant to accelerate development and services to wananchi. It is a budget that will see development and positive impact in every village in West Pokot County,” Lonyangapuo said.
He said the gist of the budget revolved around delivery of critical development programs as well as putting in place mechanisms for trade and investments to thrive. “I want to assure the County assembly and the people of West Pokot County that we will make sure that this budget is implemented properly for the benefit of all,” he said.
The County boss reiterated that they proposed a number of active projects. He lauded the County assembly budget committee for ensuring the passage of the budget estimates in time. “This shows that our Assembly works in tandem with the development plans in the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP). We respect the Budget & will follow it to the letter,” said Lonyangapuo.
