Bungoma County is once again in mourning after engineer and professor Maurice Kizito Mangoli succumbed to the Coronavirus while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital. This comes after the late Dr. Doreen Lugaliki who also succumbed to the virus was laid to rest in Tongaren, Bungoma on Monday.
The late Mangoli was an engineer and senior lecturer in the department of electrical and information engineering at the University of Nairobi at the time of his demise. Leaders including Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa has given their condolences. “Deeply saddened by the passing on of Prof. Maurice Mangoli. A distinguished teacher, seasoned scholar of UON and a reknown engineer. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and relatives,” said CS Wamalwa.
“IEK condoles with the family of the late Prof. Eng. Maurice Mangoli. He was a great friend and mentor to many in the engineering profession. Prof. Mangoli was a brilliant mind and was one of the few classes in electrical engineering at UON class of 1980. May his soul rest in peace,” read the message from the Institution of Engineers of Kenya(IEK). Kenya’s death toll from the Coronavirus as of Tuesday stood at 202, while total cases were 10,791.
