Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati isn’t out of the docks just yet, with a pre-trial conference for his impeachment ongoing in the Bungoma County assembly. Two petitioners have separately petitioned the County assembly to impeach the Governor of Bungoma County.
The petitioners are the Director of Torch Africa Nyukuri Barasa of Torch Africa, and Moses Lukoye, a Human Rights activist. The pretrial conference commenced at 9:00am. The Governor sent advocate Makhakara to represent him and the petitioners are present in person. The petition is being processed by the committee of public administration and ICT, chaired by Hon Majimbo Okumu.
The grounds for impeachment include gross incompetence, misappropriation of public funds, abuse of office, and lack of leadership and integrity to hold public office.
