The usual business at the County assembly of Nandi on Friday came to a stand still after the members of the assembly differed concerning the report of the ad hoc committee on the Kenyan urban support programme project which had been tasked with the findings of the ongoing foot path construction project along Namgoi-Kapsabet highway which has dragged for long.
The ad hoc committee led by its chair Kipkurui Chepkwony had been tasked to investigate the project which to members of the house, had not met the required standards and to present a report of their findings by 30th June, which didn’t happen prompting members to cite corruption allegations, adding that the committee may having tampered with the findings. According to a section of MCAs led by Kapsabet and Ol’lessos ward MCAs Fredrick Kipkemboi and Emmanuel Mengech, they said the report findings had been altered and tampered with by the committee to favour the contractor of the project who was supposed to be kicked out, and the house unanimously rejected the tabling of the report. They added that the chair of the said committee had been bribed by the contractor.
