Feuds in Ford Kenya party are far from over after Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and his Tongaren Dr. Eseli Simiyu defended the party coup while shooting a salvo at Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, accusing him of using the party as a briefcase, where he extorted funds from aspirants. The two defended their coup, saying it was for the best interest of the party to save it from disintegration.
“We did what we did because our former party leader had committed serious gross misconduct for going against our party constitution as well as engaging in corrupt activities,” said Eseli.
The Ford Kenya Secretary General appealed to residents to work together with their party leadership under Wamunyinyi to revamp the party that he claimed was in the hands of a leader who never understood good governance. He said Wetangula forgot how to steer the party and instead resorted to being a Bungoma kingpin and not availing the party to other regions.
He noted that he will propose to the NDC of the party to change the party constitution that will require party leaders to serve for only one renewable term, in order to deal with greedy party leaders.
His counterpart Wafula Wamunyinyi claimed Senator Wetangula was removed as party leader by the NEC members long time ago and his stay was courtesy of conservatory orders he acquired from the high court.
He said he will organize for a meeting with residents of Trans Nzoia to outline why they removed Wetangula from the party leader position. He urged Senator Wetangula to stop misadvising party followers in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia that he is still the party leader, adding that if he is the party leader he shouldn’t go around announcing it.
