Chesumei MP Dr Wilson Kogo has urged the Senators to ensure they agree on the way forward with the Third Basis for revenue Sharing without further delay. Speaking to the press, Kogo said the revenue sharing impasse is counter productive and Senators should stop playing games and should instead consider the interests of Kenyans.

He accused Senators of playing bad politics in the revenue sharing standoff while Counties continue suffering because money has not been released and further delays means County services will stagnate. The Senate house will today resume the debate on the contagious revenue sharing formula to find a lasting solution thus all eyes are on senate.

The MP affirmed that a win-win solution should ensure all regions get the amount they deserve. “An amended CRA formula must promote a situation where all the Counties gain by ensuring the right amount is allocated,” he said. Nandi County is among the Counties who will benefit if the Commission of Revenue Allocation revenue allocation, the one man, one shilling, one vote, is implemented.

However, following opposition by a section of Senators, dubbed ‘Team Kenya’, who said marginalized Counties stand to lose on the basis that population is the main parameter favored in the formula, the debate stagnated. Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and Meru Senator Mithika Linturi were tasked by the ‘Team Kenya’ Senators to put their proposed amendments together and come up with a final win-win formula, which they expect will be passed without contention.
