Kenya has recorded 492 positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total cases of cases to 26,928. 4,063 samples have been tested in the past 24 hours, with cumulative tests now at 358,330. 478 of the cases are Kenyans while 14 are foreigners, men still are recording higher cases with 331 new cases and females are 161. 534 patients have recovered with recoveries rising to 13,485. 56 of the new recoveries were from hospitals while 478 recovered under the home based care plan.
Speaking to the press in Kericho on Monday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said the home based care program is bearing fruits with every passing day. “This is a phenomena we continue to observe, where the home based care program is better. People are getting better faster, so far, so good,” he said. He further lauded healthcare workers for playing their part.
On fighting cartels in the Ministry of Health, CS Kagwe called for patience, saying the rot runs deep and it’s not a light matter. “We are fighting cartels, but I would also like you to be patient, you’ve been patient for a very long time when you’ve been with those cartels. Cartels are not eaten overnight, they fight back.” He said he can’t divulge the methods he is using to tackle the cartels in the press. He said substantive changes have been made but there isn’t enough appreciation of the same.
