Tongaren MP and Ford Kenya Secretary General David Eseli has rubbished his expulsion from the party, saying the NEC meeting held on Monday that led to his expulsion, together with Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and nominated MCA Cynthia Mutere, went against the party rules. He has reiterated that only the party’s secretary general can convene the National Executive Council meeting.
During an interview with Mumbo FM on Wednesday, Eseli criticized Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and his leadership style, saying it’s time for the party to be taken back to the people. He said Wetangula thrives on back hand tactics, “He likes using a divide and conquer style, he takes advantage of party members.” He said Wetangula has crossed paths with the region’s Governors, including Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba all in the name of oversight.
The Tongaren MP also dispelled the idea that Senator Wetangula popularized him politically in Bungoma, “In Bungoma we played a key role for him, maybe he can say that for the Governor, but that doesn’t apply to me and Wamunyinyi.” The party is still embroiled in wrangles, with the Wamunyinyi led team shooting down the expulsion on Monday. The case addressing the party leadership issues is still at the high court, however, with a way forward to be issued on September 25th.
