The County Assembly of Nandi is set to conduct a Covid-19 mass testing exercise for MCAs on Tuesday 25th August. This is after one MCA tested positive for the virus.
In a statement, the County Assembly speaker Joshua Kiptoo said MCAs were on recess from 16th July and the assembly had scheduled to resume its sittings last week but the sittings were cancelled following the Covid-19 case.
Kiptoo said that the MCA had attended meetings in Nairobi before he resolved to get tested and was found positive, adding that he is already in isolation.
He confirmed that health workers from the Kapsabet County referral hospital have been asked to conduct the mass testing. “Thus the Assembly shall remain closed for a fumigation exercise and upon conclusion of this exercise the way forward with regards to resumption of sessions will be issued,” read part of the statement. The speaker has reminded all the County Assembly employees to stick to Ministry of Health directives on Coronavirus infection prevention.
