President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed that the nationwide curfew running from 9:00pm to 4am be extended for a further 30 days from today. Bars and nightclubs will also remain closed for 30 more days. These are part of measures issued on Wednesday to sustain the war on the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Head of State has directed the Ministry of Health and bar owners to develop self regulation measures as part of civic responsibility to cater for their clients. However, the prohibition on licensed eateries selling alcoholic drinks has been lifted. He has further lifted the ban on the sale of second hand clothes, ‘mitumba’, adding that details on protocols governing this will be released by the government on Thursday.

The number of people attending funerals and weddings has also been reviewed from 15 to 100 following input from the inter faith council. The Council of Governors and Interior Ministry are set to convene a national consultation conference to review the nation’s and County’s Covid-19 response in 3 weeks with stakeholders, to chart the way forward post Covid-19.
