Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has urged farmers from across the County to embrace diversification as away of transforming their lives. Sang said that his government through the Ministry of Agriculture is supporting small scale farmers through the County agricultural mechanization services to improve farm productivity in return of high yields for income generation and that they have partnered with the National Agricultural and Rural inclusive growth project (NAGRIP) in helping farmers.
“We have partnered with NAGRIP to aid farmers access certified seeds and venture into seed multiplication agribusiness activity through use of the mechanization programme to better their lives,” Sang said.
The Governor affirmed that his administration is moreover offering support to various cooperatives across the County to realize and embrace use of mechanization programs.
He was speaking at Chepkiit area in Nandi where he had toured to witness the mechanization harvesting of potatoes by Nandi potato cooperative union, a cooperative which ventures in seed multiplication agribusiness.
