Kenya has recorded 48 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, marking one of the lowest tally in recent weeks. This is after 1,081 samples were tested. The country’s total number of Covid-19 cases is now at 36,205.
Speaking at Afya House on Monday, Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi said of the new cases, the youngest is 12 years old while the oldest is 75 years old. All are Kenyans with 31 being males and 17 females. She said some Counties that had started reporting low numbers have experienced an upsurge and health officials are reviewing the situation on the ground, citing Mombasa County in the process.
Mombasa has registered the highest number of new cases with 20, Nairobi has 15, Tharaka Nithi has 4, Kiambu has 2, Kilifi has 2 and Homa Bay has 1.
176 patients have recovered from the virus-45 from the home based care programme and 131 from various health facilities-and the total number of recoveries in Kenya has so far reached 23,243. 2 more patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, with fatalities now at 624.
