Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has faulted the government over plans to roll out a second Huduma Namba registration exercise, saying it is a plot to rig out Deputy President William Ruto. His sentiments echo what other DP Ruto allies have alleged over the past week. However, the government has already come out and urged the leaders not to misinform Kenyans and affirmed that the NIIMS system and the data are locally managed, contrary to claims it’s managed by a foreign firm through the National Intelligence Service (NIS). Interior PS Karanja Kibicho said the state will roll out another registration exercise around December, giving everyone a chance to be captured.
Cherargei insisted there is a motive to rig out DP Ruto, insisting the NIS is being used in the whole process. The Senator, who was speaking in Nandi said as Jubilee supporters, they demand the government issues the cards and details from the first registration exercise first. He said Jubilee leaders and supporters are alert to any underhand plans that may be executed.
Leaders who had accompanied the DP on his visit to Bungoma on Sunday also criticized the government’s plan. Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa said the important thing at the moment is the revival of the economy, “We urge residents of Bungoma to refuse being part of a second Huduma Namba registration exercise, that isn’t a priority right now.” Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama said Huduma cards from the first exercise should be availed, “If they aren’t produced, let no other Kenyan go and register afresh,” he said.
