6 Bungoma MCAs have tested positive for Covid-19, and the Bungoma County assembly will remain closed for a further 14 days effective today, 28th October. In a statement, Bungoma County assembly speaker Emmanuel Situma said 7 members of staff have also tested positive. The assembly had been closed two weeks ago as a precautionary measure and mass testing was conducted on MCAs, staff and other service providers at the assembly.
The affected MCAs and staff have been advised to self isolate and follow the Ministry of Health guidelines on Covid-19 management, “The wider County assembly of Bungoma fraternity is equally urged to self isolate in the interest of the wider public,” said the assembly speaker. County residents have also been advised to continue adhering to the Covid-19 infection prevention guidelines.
