The Bomas of Kenya was vibrant early on Monday as Kenyans turned up to witness the official launch of the BBI report. Despite the rain in the city in the morning hours, the place started filling up as early as 8 in the morning, with 6,000 invited delegates from across the Counties.
President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived minutes past 11:00 am, with Deputy President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Rails Odinga already seated. During the weekend, leaders traversed different parts of the country, to urge Kenyans to read the BBI report.
Last week, when the President and the ODM leader received the report, they insisted it doesn’t revolve around the President and Prime Minister positions, but is meant to address pertinent issues facing Kenyans, especially unity and peace. However, different reactions are emanating from Kenyans, with some finding fault with the idea of expending the executive, and others lauding the proposals touching on devolution, notably improved funds allocation to Counties.
