Police officers on Sunday evening nabbed 21 minors partying at an entertainment joint in Webuye town. Bungoma East police boss Valerian Obore who confirmed the incident said the youths were arrested at Santa Barbara restaurant/bar. He said members of the public heard lots of noise from the pub and alerted police officers who responded immediately, who found them partying, drinking, in the guise of celebrating a birthday.
He said 14 teenaged girls and 7 boys were arrested, together with a young lady and her boyfriend who had put together the party along with the DJ. He revealed that all the teenagers are aged between 14 years old and 17 years old. Officers also found several crates of alcohol, some bottles had already been emptied. The teenagers are being detained at the station, waiting for their parents, with plans in place to prosecute the lady who set up the party and arrest the owner of the entertainment joint.
“We want to call upon parents to take good care of their children who are at home during this pandemic season,” he said, “This will keep them from engaging in drug abuse and sexual activities.” Several bar owners in Webuye town have been on the spot for operating beyond curfew hours. The Webuye case comes a day after detectives in Nairobi arrested 44 children who were partying in a house at Mountain View Estate.
