The ANC party has voiced its support for the BBI report, saying the concerns it had with the report at first have been addressed. Speaking to the press on Thursday, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi urged Kenyans to come together and participate in the whole process with a view to having smooth and a non contested referendum, “When we raised issues people wanted to vilify because they wanted a quick shortcut, but diplomatically, consistently and logically many voices raised concerns. With the new document, it shows the concerns didn’t land on deaf ears and the new document shows they’ve responded at least to a substantial amount of those issues.”

He said issues like the affirmative action for people living with disabilities, women and youths have been straightened out, “Read the document, track the difference, if you are still aggrieved you have the opportunity to vote against it.” On his part, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala said the party is satisfied with the Amendments Bill, noting that the problems they had raised have been addressed.

He said out of the 4 million signatures targeted by the BBI Secretariat across the country, ANC should ensure they collect half of those. “It is now our responsibility as members of ANC, as elected leaders of ANC, to traverse the country to popularize this document,” he stated.
