The Ministry of Health on Sunday confirmed 685 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total positive cases in Kenya to 55,877. The cases were picked from 4,433 samples tested in the last 24 hours. 659 are Kenyans, 26 foreigners with 449 males and 239 females. The youngest is a 2-year old child and the oldest is 81-years old.
The fatalities have crossed the 1,000 mark, after 17 more patients died in the last 24 hours. The total deaths are now at 1,013. However, 231 patients have recovered, with the recoveries now rising to 37,194. Of the new recoveries, 130 were discharged from the home based care program and 101 from various hospitals.
In terms of admissions, 1,271 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,806 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
53 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 31 of whom are on ventilatory support and 22 on supplementary oxygen.
46 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen but not in the ICU, while 17 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
In the Counties the cases are distributed as follows; Mombasa 203, Nairobi 202, Busia 95, Nakuru 18, Kiambu 18, Bungoma 18, Kilifi 17, Kisumu 17, Embu 17, Kajiado 15, Kakamega 14, Kwale 8, Machakos 6, Kirinyaga 5, Kericho, Murang’a, Taita Taveta, Turkana 4 each, Nyandarua 4, Tana River 4, Homabay 3, Isiolo and Kisii 2 each and Garissa 1.
