Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has affirmed that his administration together with the security team and the County’s interfaith council will work together towards the containment of the Coronavirus in Nandi.
Speaking during a meeting with the officials, Governor Sang blamed the rising cases on negligence and ignoring Covid-19 infection prevention protocols by residents. He said that the meeting resolved to set up measures to curb the spread of the virus and ensure residents strictly adhere to the regulations without failure.
The Governor said the County has confirmed over five hundred Covid-19 cases and at least 100 are still active, with 66 receiving treatment at isolation centres. He revealed that the administration has enhanced its oxygen capacity in health facilities to ensure all the County hospitals and the health centers are in a position to avail adequate oxygen to patients with Covid-19 cases.
The County commissioner for Nandi George Omoding also affirmed they’ve reached a consensus with the County leadership to put in concerted efforts to combat the virus, and they’ll continue to crack down on those flouting the rules. “So far we’ve been able to arrest over 300 culprits flouting Covid-19 rules and we will continue with the crackdown until the public realizes the importance of adhering to the Ministry of Health protocols,” Omoding stated.
The commissioner said he has instructed the chiefs and their assistants together with the security team in their areas of jurisdiction to implement Covid-19 directives, and failure to do so will attract a penalty.
