As Christmas festivities continue across the country, residents of Trans Nzoia are grappling with economic challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, more than 100 families in Trans Nzoia County have a reason to smile after receiving food aid from a well wisher.
The well wisher, Alan Chesang, said he realized several families are going through tough times due to lack of food and that’s why he was moved to provide help. He said several leaders have forsaken those who are disadvantaged in several areas, including neglecting them in government employment opportunities, failure to avail better health care for them among others.
He has promised to help in construction of some classrooms to provide help for children who are challenged, noting that they are capable of achieving a lot if they are offered a better environment.
Some of the beneficiaries led by Josephat Barasa and Ezekiel Otunguli thanked the Chesang Foundation for remembering them during this festive season amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. “We as the challenged families appreciate you for the help that you have offered our sisters and brothers. We call upon other leaders to follow suit in helping these people who are facing challenges, especially those brought about by Covid-19,” said Barasa.
They faulted their representatives at the County assembly for not pushing through their grievances as leaders. They said no bill has been passed in the County assembly to address the challenges they are going through.
