Kenyans are set to feel the strain after fuel prices were increased in the latest review. The price of Super petrol increases by Kshs 0.97 per litre, Diesel increases by Kshs 1.12 per litre and Kerosene increases by Kshs 1.93 per litre. The Energy and petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) said the new prices will be in effect from 15th December to 14th January 2021. The fuel prices in Nairobi will be as follows, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will now retail at Kshs 106.82, Kshs 91.82 and Kshs 83.56 per litre respectively.
EPRA said prices are as a result of the average landed cost of imported super petrol increasing by 0.65 per cent from $316.64 per cubic meter in October 2020 to $318.71 per cubic meter in November. Diesel increased by 1.75 per cent from $288.83 to $293.88 per cubic meter and Kerosene increased by 6.16 per cent from $261.17 per cubic meter to $277.27 per cubic meter.
The pump prices in some major towns in Western are as follows; In Kakamega, Super Petrol will retail at Kshs 107.49, Diesel will retail at Kshs 92.72 and Kerosene at Kshs 84.48 per litre. In Bungoma, Super petrol will retail at Kshs 108.22, Diesel will retail at Kshs 93.44 and Kerosene will retail at Kshs 85.20, in Mumias Super Petrol will retail at Kshs 107.77, diesel will retail at Kshs 93.00 and Kerosene at Kshs 84.76 per litre. In Kitale, Super petrol will retail at Kshs 107.82, Diesel will retail at Kshs 93.04 and Kerosene will retail at Kshs 84.80, in Webuye Super Petrol will retail at Kshs 107.88, Diesel at Kshs 93.11 and Kerosene at Kshs 84.87.
In Malaba Super Petrol will retail at Kshs 108.62, diesel will retail at Kshs 93.84 and Kerosene at Kshs 85.60 per litre. In Kapenguria Super petrol will retail at Kshs 108.45, Diesel will retail at Kshs 93.67 and Kerosene at Kshs 85.43 per litre. In Turbo Super Petrol will retail at Kshs 107.41, Diesel will retail at Kshs 92.62 and Kerosene will retail at Kshs 84.38.
