The Likuyani National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) has set aside Kshs. 12.5 million to reward 627 candidates who sat their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations last year and scored minimum university entry points.
Addressing residents in Sango ward, the NGCDF chair Ms. Francisca Nakhayo said all candidates who sat their examinations within or outside the sub county but are residents of Likuyani constituency will each receive Kshs 20,000.
“We have set aside Kshs 12.5 million to reward all last year’s candidates who scored grade C+ and above regardless of where they sat their examinations from, as long as they are Likuyani residents,” said Ms. Nakhayo.
She said the cash will help the candidates buy what they need, adding that this was also a way of motivating other candidates to do better in their final examinations.
She however advised candidates who didn’t manage to score grades that would enable them to join university to join other tertiary colleges.
Ms. Nakhayo appealed to parents and leaders from the sub county to prioritize education which she said was the key to development.
She disclosed that the constituency had received Kshs 137 million which has already been used on various development projects within the sub county.
